The Kyiv City Council identified 53 more monuments and signs that should be removed from city streets or reworked within the limits of decommunization. This was reported in the press service of the KMDA.

It says that these objects "reflect Soviet and Russian propaganda narratives and contain false historical information." All of them were included in the list of monuments related to the history and culture of Russia and the USSR, which are subject to removal from the public space of the city.

Yes, 30 objects are subject to complete dismantling. Including:

  • the monument "Soviet tank" on Beresteysky prospect, 52/2;
  • four turrets from Soviet tanks on the territory of Kyiv schools, which were installed in honor of Soviet tankmen;
  • the bas-relief that remained after the dismantling of the monument to Vladimir Lenin near the "Teatralna" metro station;
  • three monuments to the Russian and Soviet scientist Ivan Pavlov at the addresses: st. Hospitalna, 24A, str. Shovkovichna, 39/1, str. Kyrylivska, 103.

Another 23 objects to be preserved with the removal of individual elements of the composition, correction of the text or its individual parts. Among them is a monument to Soviet pilots on the street. Lisova, 56 - it is proposed to put the text in Ukrainian, to replace the commemorative inscription from the Soviet one to a modern one, with a dedication to the Ukrainian pilots who died during the Second World War," said Hanna Starostenko.

It was also decided to replace the mention of the "Great Patriotic War" with "World War II" on the monument to teachers and students of KDHI who died during the Great Patriotic War (Voznesenskyi Uzviz, 20), and the numbers "1941-1945" with "1939- 1945", the wording "German-fascist invaders" should be changed to "Nazi invaders". In addition, the details on the monuments to the fallen employees of the tram depot (4 Degtyarivska St.) and the participants in the defense of Kyiv in Holosiivskyi Park will be changed.
